ON OUR WAY TO LISBON

A play that’s a must for Celtic fans kicks off tomorrow night at The Arches Theatre Glasgow, it runs for three nights May 30,31 and June 1.

The Story of the 1967 European Cup

On Our Way to Lisbon (or The Italian Job) tells the story of how, in 1967,Glasgow Celtic became the first British team to win the European Cup victory over the mighty Inter Milan.

Two fans look back and fondly recreate how the underdogs beat the hardest team in the world and draped Europe in green, white and gold! After sell out performances in London, the show makes its first visit to Glasgow.

Written by..............................Patrick Prior

Directed by................................Jim Dunk

Performed by Pat Abernethy and Dave Marsden

On Our Way to Lisbon' has recently been premiered at the Space Arts Centre in London and the Hammersmith Irish Centre to standing ovations in both venues.

This highly-charged, emotional, witty and intense piece of theatre has been described as not just a play about football, but a play in which football and the hopes and dreams of the fans are inextricably interwoven.

ELLAND ROAD

Once again the travelling Celtic support were a credit to the club with their continual backing despite the disappointment we all suffered the previous Saturday at Hampden. No wonder so many clubs choose the hoops when they know they need to generate interest. Well done also to Gary Kelly for his fantastic gesture in donating all monies to two of his chosen charities.
