JIMMY JOHNSTONE MEMORIAL FUND

The committee of the above fund who have decided to erect a statue in honour of the late great Jimmy Johnstone in his home town of Viewpark and on the site of his old school are delighted to announce that well know Glasgow Irish Folk band THE WAKES have written & performed a new tribute song, The Uncrowned King of Football, in Jinky's memory and that it will be sold to help fund the erecting of the statue and to support Scottish Motor Neurone related charities

The song has the full approval of Jinky's family and has already been played at Celtic Park during the Old Firm game last Wednesday night. The CD has now been officially launched at an event in The Derby Inn Mossend attended by Jinkys wife Agnes & son James alongside some of the fund committee including its chairman James McCabe, leader of North Lanarkshire Council, vice chairman Martin McHugh, well known business man, and fund event organiser Phil Agnew.

The Wakes Band are all local BHOYS who knew Jimmy but only seen him play via Videos but still wanted to do their own tribute to the local Viewpark Legend that was Jimmy Johnstone. The song was written & performed by the band under the guidance of lead singer Paul Sheridan and is available to buy via their website at www.thewakes-band.com. The Bramalea Celtic club are honoured to be hosting the annual General Meeting for the North American Federation of Celtic Supporters Clubs June 22nd to June 29th 2008.

Our club is located 10 minutes from Pearson airport in Toronto. We have an arraignment with the Holiday Inn next to the Bramalea city centre. The Bramalea City Centre is one of the biggest malls in the area with lots of stores, restaurants and the main bus terminal is in the mall.

The Grimsby Emerald CSC,  On behalf of our two members Jimmy Read and Steve Reilly pass on there thanks and gratitude to the board of directors and Rhona Macdonald for the marvellous hospitality day they both enjoyed for the recent SPL home game against Motherwell.

They would also like to thank Mick Dinning and the Affiliation of Registered CSC’S for giving them this unforgettable experience.... despite the result, they both had a day to remember, and everybody at the club couldn’t do enough for them, they were made to feel very special VIPs...
